Odds calculator FAQ

How the odds are calculated

What's the difference between "exact" and "Monte Carlo"?

Once the board has three or more cards, there are few enough remaining runouts to check every single one — that's an exact result. Before the flop, or across ranges, there are far too many to enumerate quickly, so we run a large number of random Monte Carlo trials and show the estimate together with its margin. We always tell you which method produced the number.

What's the difference between a hand and a range?

A hand is two exact cards, like A♠A♥. A range is a set of hand classes — like "AA, KK, AKs" — that a player could be holding. Equity against a range averages over every combination it contains.

Does "No-Limit" change the odds?

No. Equity depends only on the cards and the board, not the betting format. We say "Texas Hold'em" because that's what players call it.

Is it really free, and is my data private?

Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, there's no account, and there are no ads. Share links encode the scenario in the URL, not on a server.
